The Trooper (equipped with a 3.1) or a late model S-10 with a 2.2 have a tranny that will accomodate the driver side starter mount. There was also an early F-body bell housing that had dual starter pockets.
The struggle might be more from the electronics, to use the 3400 SFI PCM will be very difficult at best. I'd recommend going to an MPFI ECM from a '87 to '94 J-body, '87 to 93 W-body, and a few other vehicles. This will run the engine in bacth fire, as opposed to SFI, but it's 300 times easier than using the SFI.
Check out www.domesticcrew.com for swap info. That site is geared towards J-bodies with a 3400 swap, but there is other info that should help, plus there's a few of us on there with some oddball combinations. Like my Jimmy, 3.2L Hybrid with a turbo.
