Are there any DIS COP systems out for any 3x00's that anyone knows of?

    RE: DIS COP

    COP? Control Over Progression?

Only aftermarket DIS systems are the MSD DIS4. Coil packs are available from Jacobs, MSD and Accel.

      RE: DIS COP

You would need a complete standalone EFI system to do coil on plug. AEM, Motec, or Electromotive would be good brands to look at.

I think a C.O.P. ignition would be wonderful to set up. Why would a complete standalone EFI system be needed, if you were running a SFI engine already? I don't know the ins and outs of all that stuff, but I should think that a SFI engine would be alright. If you had MPFI, then yeah, I would most definitely say yeah. The real question would be how to secure the coils. With a 3.4 DOHC, that would be easier, but a pushrod engine doesn't have the nice wide cam covers of the DOHC engine.

SFI or MPFI have absolutely nothing to do with COP. What it comes down to is about the only systems out there that would do a COP ignition for a 6 cylinder engine just happen to be standalone EFI controllers. It would be a waste to buy one of those, use it to run the 6 coils, and then rely on the OEM computer to fire the injectors. If you think the biggest issue is where to mount the coils, you might not want to undertake something like this.

I personally don't think it is necessary. To my knowledge, nobody has pushed these engines to the point where the stock DIS cannot perform. Even with extreme cylinder pressure and rpm, a stock module with help from a DIS-4 or similar would work fine, with no need to add the complexity of COP>
