  • 2003 3100 Grand Prix

    Hello all,

I?m new to the board so be kind. I have a 2003 3100 Grand Prix, what I would like to do is open her up a little. I?m having issues finding an out of the box intake set up for it (K&N, AirRaid, etc). Can any of you guys point me in the right direction? I am also looking into an exhaust mod too, I was thinking swapping to another muffler (Bullet, FlowMaster, etc) and boring the CAT out. Has anyone done this mod?

    Thanks in advance,

the best thing to do if you have the time and money is swap in a 3400 and start from that, you get more oomph to start with. you might find stuff on ebay as far intakes and for exhaust your gonna have to wait for someone with a similar car to tell you that one. if you have e-check or whatever you might look into a high flow cat versus boring it out, that way you should still pass inspection.

keep the 3100 it's good as is, the difference is like 10 hp and 10 ft-lbs. not worth a engine swap, imo. wait til the 3100 is dead til you upgrade. I made my intake w/ 3" cai tubing I got off ebay http://www.60degreev6.com/index.php?...ewtopic&t=4699 as for exhaust I put on 2 flowmasters and they sound pretty good. I liked the results of the FFP underdrive pulley. I don't know if the TOG headers will fit on the GP, but you might want to look into that. I myself am "attempting" to turbocharge my 3100.

      good luck

        vsop4me3.1,

Thanks for the info. I am making a custom 3" set up as we speak. In regards to the flowmasters. Are you just running a Y splitter at the rear, or is it true dual from the cat back. I will try to post some pictures as I complete the process.

y splitter at the end, I believe true duals run seperate pipes off of the banks.

Yeah, 3400 swap isnt gonna give you enough added power to warrant swapping. For basic mods, a good CAI would be good. And then upgrade your exhaust. NOT the mufflers, the WHOLE THING. Pipe from the cat back should be bigger.

As for a highflow cat..... the car comes from the factory with a highflow cat on it. The only way you're gonna get more flow is to get one with a larger diameter. In addition, since you have an 03, if you change to a bigger cat, you'll also need something that's "OBD-II compliant" or at the least, you'll have to have a bung welded in the pipe somewhere right behind the cat, since your ECU reads it's own emissions. Or you can go to Jegs (not sure if they'll work on your car) and get the Caspers electronics O2 simulator to replace your rear O2.

Thanks all; considering I just want to open the car up a little a motor swap is out of the question.
In regards to the high flow cat, I'm not being obtuse but what auto manufacturer installs any part ever that is fully optimized, there is always something better then stock?
I have the parts in hand for an intake. On the exhaust side of things, I was able to find a bolt on alternative http://store.summitracing.com/defaul...earchType=Make. The strange part about this kit is its only 2.5? I would think that these 60*V?s would need 3?. At any rate, that?s where things are at. Has anyone found an ECU module or upgraded EPROM I can run on this engine? Thanks in advance.

3" is waaaaay to big for these engines. Some will say that even 2.5" is too big unless you have alot of work done to the engine.

As far as PCMs, DHP is basically the best and only route to go. http://www.digitalhorsepowerinc.com

I was doing some web searches in an effort to find some more bolt ons... Has anyone on the board bought/installed any of these parts for their 3100? At this point I am more interested in the pully and the TB, I'll cross the lower/upper intake bridge if/when I ever get that far into it.

                    Let me know,

They are just RSM parts. Do a search for RSM on here cause I know several people have some of their parts installed.

it says it's out of stock but you might wanna check with them, the website claimed a 2 week backorder when I purchased mine and I got it 4 days later.
