    Looking at this item on Ebay:7985796747

    Looks like only the top half of the manifold. I don't see how this will bolt on to a stock 83 2.8 intake manifold.

    Can anybody verify ?

    As far as I know youll also need the baseplate... that wont bolt to anything stock.

    Actually all his stuff looks like crap. Abused and dirty. Spelling sucks ass also.

      I used the Camaro Intake manifold and put the top of the torker II on it with a peice of aluminum and it runs much better than with the Edelbrock peice.

        I dno't tinhk taht guy can splel vary good.

          Update On Intake

          Ok, the seller says he has the other "manifold" itself.

          And I see some of you have also seen the carb he has also.

          As I stated earlier, this is going on someone else's truck. I am tired of trying to get the Dual Jet working. I want to take all the bull crap stuff off so it will just be a simple little truck.

          Besides, we may get a convert in the process. Performance or "Hot Rod" people come in all shapes, ages, and sizes. Sexes Too !!

              Carb No Problem

              Donk,

              I got a bunch of old carbs around here. Not that any one of them are any good !

              Primarly interested in the intake.

                    Because......

                    Remember when you were a kid. You would ask why and someone would say, " Well, just because !"

                    I think this is the case in this instance.

                    Remember that aftermarket manufacturers do test results and then advertise them when they show improvements. Problem is, they often don't relate to the real world of street driving. Most of the time the performance gain is in the upper RPM range. A range that most street engines almost never see.

                    Remember too that the manufacturers do a lot of testing. There are a lot of times that the aftermarket people use their data and
                    make "improvements" in a certain RPM range. The factory guys know what they're stuff will do. Thats why you see more performance stuff come along behind the current stuff from the factory.

                    In the old days, hot rodders came up with cool stuff through trial and error. The factories used this data too. But there is just too much in the factory arsenal these days.

                    So in short, it does not suprise me that the factory intake may perform somewhat better at regular street driving or the occasional high performance romp.

                      In this case, it is not the factory intake manifold. It is just the lower section of a MPFI manifold coupled with the plenum from a carb intake. I, too, am curious about the performance of this intake combo, as I am experiementing with carb and TBI setups on an iron head engine. Do you have any pictures of it? DId you radius the edge of the runners where the plate bolts on to smooth the transition?

                        I'd really like to hear more about this idea of puting the upper Edelbrock on the MPFI lower. On the face of it, it looks like that lower will flow better than the Edelbrock or Offenhauser. It just seems that having that big open chamber just under the carb will create all sorts of turbulence, and possibly fuel seperation.

                        1XLR8 - you have any more info for us? Dyno figures?

                          My Dad and I took a pipe tap and tapped the holes where the fuel injectors go in and then screwed in 6 pipe plugs with black silicone on the threads. (We got the short pipe plugs with an allen wrench hole.) We then took a piece of 1/4 inch thick aluminum plate that was about 6 by 10 inches and drilled 6 holes to match up with the threaded holes in the lower manifold. (We used the gasket as a template.) We then cut out holes in the aluminum plate to match up the lower ports with the Edelbrock plenum. The Edelbrock Plenum has a wall down the middle to separate the left and right intake ports. The wall is flared out at the bottom and we cut parts of the flare out where it meets up with the ports. We took a drill with a small round grinder and ground on the port holes we cut in the aluminum plate to smooth the flow. We also drilled 4 holes to mount the Edelbrock plenum to the aluminum plate.
                          Thats about it!

                            Thanks. The question is - how does it work? Were you able to compare it to the Edelbrock bottom? Seat of the pants? Dyno? ET?

                              Seat of the pants there was a noticable difference it pulled alot harder. Before the power would just disappear around 4k now it pulls stong up to 5k and alot more responsive also, before if you were sittin in 1st and stomped the gas it would kinda------then go, now its right on the money you hit the gas and tire spin is nothing compared to waht it was(i think my diff is going out though because now everytime i go it spins both tires). We clocked it and its about a half a second quicker to 60mph. Hope this helps
