  • Aftermarket gauge questions

Has anyone installed an air fuel ratio gauge in their 3100? Also same goes with oil pressure.

I have an oil pressure gauge. With the sending unit. but the sending unit is too big to fit in the area surrounding it. I would need an extension on the threads to make it fit. plus i don't know what thread type is needed? Anyone know of a oil sending unit that fits our 3100's????

I haven't bought a Air/fuel ratio gauge. I was just wondering on how hard that would be to install.

    RE: Aftermarket gauge questions

the air to fuel would be pretty easy if you were to get the pigtail that most places sell. as with the oil presssure did you get a baggie of stuff with the gauge cause it should have everything you need in there. the 3100 cant be that different than the 3400. mine was right in front of the engine above the starter, tight fit getting in there but she went in.

the air fuel gauge is easy to hook up. just ground, switched power, and one wire to your o2 sensor. however, you may want to look into a relay for your swiched power, the air/fuel gauge is real sensitive to voltage change (say you throw on your turn signal).

also make sure you have power at the gauge whenever the car is running. ive seen were the power is off the the gauge and the gauge tries to power off the o2 sensor, and its power draw makes the ecm think the car is lean, so it richens it, but it doesnt change the o2 reading so the pcm floods the engine out.

                RE: Aftermarket gauge questions

to my disappointment, my sending unit won't fit. So,,,,, Would another sending unit work with my gauge? Or do i have to get some type of extension of the stud on the end of the sending unit. if i get like a 1-3'' extension then it would fit....
