  • Not firing on 3 cyl??

Ok, so I put the edlebrock tourqure 2 intake manafold on my 2.8L and a holley 600 double pumper..... I know yall gunna say its too much gas for the little weeny motor, But it runs beutiful on the 3 cyl that have full size runners(even side), on the manafold.. it runs clean, and hot... but on the side were the manafold lacks size for the runners(Odd side).. well it dont run at all, u can take all the plug wires off and it dont matter runs the same, there is spark, and now there is lots of spark, I figured id put my Jacobs Ign. on it and now it runs really sweet on olny the "even" side of the motor, but once again it dosent even think about working on the Odd side of the motor.. anyone run into this problem??, I am going to hone out the shitty runners even more tomorow I think.. kuss thats the olny thing i can think of... if anyone has any suggestions or answers thad be much appreciated..

P.S. u guys are awsome with these 60degree motors

RE: Not firing on 3 cyl??

do you happen to have another carb around??? something like a little 390??? 600cfm is something you run on a decently powerfull small block with double the displacment.

with that said, what do the plugs look like??? do they smell of gas??? do you have decent compression in those cylenders??? basicly, im gonna say that you have way to freaking much carb on that thing. most guys run a litle 390cfm and they work out great.

But the thing that pisses me off is that it works fuckin awosme on the 3 cyl that run, and i know it would work on all 6.. i juss goto figure out whats wrong... and ya the plugs smell of gas, and the other side there nicly browned

Off the top of my head I would say over fueling. Seriously a 600CFM carb will feed a pretty healthy 350. I dont know why it is only on the 3 cylinders though. Have you taken the plugs out to let the fuel evaporate out of the cylinders and off the plugs?

There is an answer to this problem, its at www.wberchevrolet.com. Its a question and answer forum and you can thank me later. something about a loose wire to the harness on the fuel rail(?) which regulates firing to three cylinders and then the alternate three.

What series is the holly? I would use the holly with two metering plates and both the primaries and secondaries beeing synch. If using a vacume secondary..then thats prob a problem there since fuel distribution will be all out of whack. You need to jet the carb smaller.
