  • Getting Rid of Dura Jet Carb

    New to the site.

    Working on a 83' S-10. 2.8 automatic and air.

It has had the motor rebuilt in the past. So has the carburetor, but it idles erradically. I have read the factory manual, so my judgement is that this stuff needs to go. Replacement carbs are pricey and this might not be a fix.

Have been reading the posts on here. Would like to replace intake manifold and carb. Prefer Holly, Edlebrock, etc. I wouldn't mind used stuff.

If anybody has anything, please let me know.

Everyone Loves the Weber. If you head on over to S-Series.org alot of people there can help you out.

I know the Weber is one of the favourites over there. The Edelbrock (still a Weber carb anyway) and the Holley are other popular options.

The Edelbrock intake is not that well liked because the intake runners are a different size on each side.

      BTY,

Thanks for the reply. I have a different agenda than most.

The S-10 I am writing about belongs to my wife's stepbrother. I am trying to get him to change over to more simple aftermarket stuff. He doesn't work on his own stuff and the local shops around here charge more than the truck is worth.

He loves this old truck and he wants to keep it.

By the way, we DO NOT have vehicle inspections in Arkansas. So modifing any of the old EPA stuff is no problem.

Last I was told there is not enough material to make the small runners equal to the larger ones.

            But that was just hearsay

              No Performance Needed

Guys, I am just trying to simplifiy the set up on this old truck. All this clean air crap is faulty and a pain.

I just want the little truck to run well and keep everything simple.

By the way, I live in eastern Arkansas near Memphis, TN.
