  • How does the Fiero 2.8 block differ from fwd blocks

I have always assumed that the fiero block was a fwd block. Now I have come to beleive that the Fiero block does not have the hole for the crank sensor as used in the fwd blocks. What other differences are there? Will all the accessories and brackets interchange between the two blocks? By this I mean AC, alternator, DIS, and anything else that bolts to the side of the block.
Will timing covers and oil pans interchange?

the fiero block is identical to all the other fwd blocks from 85-86. 87+ the fwd cars went to tyhe gen 2 motor with dis ignition and needed that crank sensor. however, all ironhead motors have distributors (excluding the 93-95 3.4l f-body) so no crank sensor.

Given that I have an '88 Fiero, are you saying that I have the gen 2 engine block?

No fiero always stayed gen I with iron heads. They always had a dizzy and had no crank sensor hole.

Raven has solved this by using an external trigger.

I was not the first, at least not to think of it, maybe the first to follow through.

Mine was a hybrid though for a Longituily mounted 660.

            What is a "Dizzy"?

            Cool crank trigger Raven!
