  • Better radiators

For my 1997 Cutty, where can I find a heavier duty radiator? Working towards a 280HP goal, better cooling is needed. Thanks.

    RE: Better radiators

Are there any in Summit that you could make work for you? I would try to make something off the shelf work, but you could always have someone do a custom one if you wanted to pay for it.

I suppose, I hadn't even thought of just using dimensions to find one. Duh! Thanks for that help.

Did you check to see if the '97 GTP's had a better radiator than your 3100? I'm not sure if different W-bodies shared the same rdiator shapes or not, but the GTP was 245HP stock, so the radiator should have enough cooling capacity to handle 280, and would be an easier fit than a custom aftermarket rad. You might also just wait until you get the engine built and see if you need the extra cooling capacity. No sense spending the extra money if it isn't necessary.

I hadn't even thought of that. Thanks for that idea, too. See, you guys always come up with something!

OK, talked to a radiator shop in the town where I work, and he came up with a 1-1/8" core unit, apparently from a '92 CS with a 3.4 DOHC. It, of course, isn't a factory unit, but would that even fit my '97? The stocker is a 5/8", he told me, to that's twice the thickness. Thanks.
