I live near London, but I'm all over southwestern Ontario with my job. Wife drives the van though during the week.
I'd rather run you with my old 2001 Venture because it was the short version. The Transport is the extended model, which is nice for a family guy like me, but not good for racing.

I was thinking the same thing... Franz is absent forever, and all the sudden someone starts talking about a van, and voila, Franz is here.

HAHAHA......I knew you guys would mention something like that!
And I've been around occasionally, but just haven't had much substance to offer lately, so I just lay low.
Don't worry, once I get more work done to the engine, you'll all know.

Ok, so back on exhuast speaking. I want headers (might save for that at later date)

Would it be annoying loud all the time if i went

Manifolds-highflow cat-magnaflow (in replace of stocker big one) stright pipe after muffler for duel outlets (removing rear muffler).

I want it to be noticable but mostly rounchy when im on it. not wake up neghbour loud.

The S&S 3400 Grand Am Headers might just work on the van setup.

A real CAI that will help ALOT. I know i had a WAI like that for the longest and i put a CAI and got a good 1 MPH increase.

Racing vans is cool. I personaly think 3400s sound like crap up top. they are raspy sounding engines. they only sound good @ or under 2000rpm. just what i think.

I have filter in bumper now.

I went all stock tubing and were inlet is (in between inner fender/outta fender i made a tube that connect the K&N cone to it) BIG diff. BUUT i am gettin free intake tubing froma freind and am running it from throttle body-outwhere it is now, this way there will be no tubulence or alot less then waht there is now, plus stainless tubing should add nice ring to it.

This thread is giving me a wet daydream about buying a wrecked venture and trying a 5 speed swap from something. Put alittle money into the 3400, i/h/e, maybe a little more. Gut the interior out except for the captains chairs upfront. Sleeper for sure. But it just wouldn't handle, ever, and that kills the dream.

                          14.60 @ 96.33 for now...

why do you think it wouldnt handle? it would take much stiffer components and a little more work but im sure you can tighten it up. maybe try to swap in a PS rack and pinion from a berreta or somthng sporty so it has a better feel, and lowered with some stiffer springs, poly bushings, probly the hardest part is finding better sway bars. just cuz its almost 4000lbs doesnt mean it cant be fun to drive. late f-bodys are 3500lbs or so and they hold on pretty good

The nice thing about the Venture/Montana/Transports, is they use the same front subframe, struts and front brakes as the 97+ Grand Prix. So there should be parts out there available to stiffen it up.

The rear brakes are the same as a drum brake Bonneville or Olds 88, but I don't think it goes beyond that for similarity. Rear suspension would definately have to be customized, or retro fitted.

And as for it handling, good luck!! It could be made better for sure, but with vans being so much taller, the center of gravity is going to be higher, regardless of how much it weighs. Can't exactly compare it to an F body even if the weight is similar.
