my nonsensical ramblings for the day.. blah blah blah blah :P
you need to port match
Port matching is not the same as gasket matching.
Port matching is lining up the ports on an engine so there is no abrupt wall change when going from the intake runners to the cylinder head ports.
some people believe recursion can be prevented by porting "small to large"
ie.. intake to head, the head port (intake to head) would be slightly ported larger than the intake port, the gasket would be matched to the head.
this prevent recursion, i think mostly done on the head to exhaust ports.
personally i have never done this, and allways port match identical
unfortuantly i dont have pictures, and i cant find the write up on this
can anyone explain this better than me ?
i was told that the gaskets used in the old iron heads can be used, as long as you have the dished pistons, yielding a 9.3x:1 or so cr which will work good with your plans for boost
Yes, they will work. You wouldn't want to touch head gaskets. There might be some gaskets out there for overbores, but if you are just putting on ported heads, then stock gaskets will be fine. As far as the intake goes, stock will be fine. The only thing you might do is put the gasket on the head/intake and see if the gasket is smaller than the port. If so, just trim it up to match the port with a knife or dremel. Just be sure not to take too much off.
