Specifically to you Olds CS'ers. How have you guys routed your intake tubing, and what did you use to make it? Thanks.

well I looked and didn't reply cuz you said "specifically you Olds CS'ers" and I drive a Pontiac.
I used 3" cold air intake I found on ebay and one I found on craigslist I spent a total of $46 then I bought some couples and hacked up the intakes to fit, added a K&N filter grabbed a beer then called it a day.
Actually on my first intake I used 3" black plastic tubing and couples from the hardware store.I wish 10% of the people on the road knew how to drive

Where did your filter end up? I'm thinking of running 2.5" tubing just behind the bottom of the radiator, to the passenger side, behind the foglight. I suppose I should have said W-Body people, instead of CSers. My bad.\"NASCAR is an integral part of my life. A part of me died when Dale Earnhardt died.\"

Luckily, I have access to a fab shop. I found a 3" dia aluminum intake for God knows what sitting in a dusty corner of my local speed shop. We hacked it up, welded it back together, powder coated it blue, stuck a K&N on it, and away I went. It actually connects to the TB using the stock bellows, and runs through the D/S fender into the cavity behind the headlight.
This is all on a '98 Cutlass 3100, BTW. I can post pics, if someone is interested.

My exhaust guy also makes custom intakes, cheap too. He'll make anything with alumized steel tubing. I got my intake off ebay from "Intake Power." It's warm air, but it was only $30 with filter AND includes the grommet for the IAT sensor.--Rob

OK...I know it's late, and this topic is a little old, but looking at those pics, I'm confused. I just pulled the battery out my car tonight, and tried to get it figured out, but the battery tray is kind of in the way. How did you get your battery moved over like that? I'd like to do something like that, else it ends up in the trunk, and I'm not sure I want to do that.
I see you're running a Monte Carlo or a Lumina, so that must change things a little from my CS. Did you end up cutting that part of the battery tray out, or what? I seem to have something up underneath mine, appears to be the evap canister.\"NASCAR is an integral part of my life. A part of me died when Dale Earnhardt died.\"

Those pics I took are from my '98 Cutlass GLS (N-Body) with a 3.1. On the drivers side front, right along where the battery is located, there is already an oblong opening into the fender that I widened to accept the 3" dia pipe. I used rubber fuel line that I split in half to keep everything from rubbing holes everywhere. The battery has not been moved from the stock location, we just managed to cut and re-weld the CAI I picked up in all the right places. BTW, relatively new to this forum, so not sure what an Olds CS is.

my car too had the oblong hole for the 3" pipe, I fortunately did'nt have to widen it. but back to your car. it doesnt look like you have much room to go into the fenderwell and is that some sort of an crash bar in pic battery tray 03.jpg? you might want to consider finding a different route to run the pipe, I definately would not give up. maybe run it under the battery past the a/c canister and into the fender or bumper.I wish 10% of the people on the road knew how to drive

Yeah, I figure it to be an impact beam, or some such thing back there. The evap canister is directly below the battery tray, too. Has anyone with a Cutlass Supreme (that's the CS, by the way, ) made a fenderwell, or a cold air unit that can show me pics of what they did? If I have to cut a little, I can, but the subframs, and frame, and all sorts of structural stuff is right there...not about to cut that. I may end up deleting the A/C anyways, and if I do, then that will free that up. We'll have to see. Thanks, guys.\"NASCAR is an integral part of my life. A part of me died when Dale Earnhardt died.\"
