  • 96 GP 3100 exhaust..potential O2 problem

Ok guys, I'd like to leave everthing on my cars exhaust factory...for now. Except I'd love to remove the cat. I know that by doing so I'll get a nice amber colored SES for my troubles. So today I've been researching o2 emulators...seems that over on some rice rocket forums a few of them have been able to extend the sensor out from the exhaust tubing by using something made to extend spark plugs out from the block to help guard against fouling. The link is below. many of them claim to have run as much as 3k miles w/o an error code or SES light coming back on.

So what do all you 60*V6 guru's think?

S2000 Under The Hood - Mechanical O2 Simulator - Ok...I got this tip from some of the local car enthusiasts...and this is one cheap O2 simulator. It works, and there is no need to cut any wires or anything...very easy as well. I personally have driven about 300 miles since, no CEL. So anybody who wants to run a test...

Leave the cat on and quit screwing with the enviroment. The cat barley restrics flow. You'd be better off taking the muffler out. Also a sever reduction in back pressure will reduce low end torque quite substantialy.

ya I wouldn't mess with the cat either, maybe just do a topend swap or something around the intake if you don't wanna spend lots of money.
I wish 10% of the people on the road knew how to drive

Agreed, cats aren't much of a restriction, and they keep your exhaust from smelling foul. A high flow cat can be found pretty cheap off ebay if it is a major concern of yours. Cats are best removed when they are clogged or if there is no room for one in the exhaust routing.
