  • Figured out what was wrong with my car!

Well, anyways, I'm back as you all predicted. The vacuum hose was disconnected from the MAF sensor. That was the cause of the bad gas mileage, the poor idle and the alternator light coming on because of the low idle speed. So it runs very well now and that makes me not want to sell it. Not only that, the lower engine mount bolt had completely walked out of the hole! I cranked that sucker down, but at high rpm I still notice a vibration. I know the top engine mount inserts are broke so that is probably it. I don't know about putting those solid mounts in there. I think that could put too much vibration into the transmission. Cool beans man!
I have a question. Does Chevy make higher ratio rockers? I don't want to change the camshaft right now. 1.75 would be nice. I have a 1995 3.1. I'll look up the stock ratio. What do you guys think? Changing the rockers is easy. I saw those gold rockers. A little on the expensive side, not to mention the machining work. More ratio is the cheaper way to go and can be done in a couple of hours at the most.

Stock is 1.6 and currently there are no higher ratio available.

The LS1 ones are, but we haven't figured out if those ones will work with our heads or not. If you want to be the guinea pig and shell out the $500 or so to do them, let us know the outcome.

The poll would have been fine if it was in the off-topic area and in a thread that at least had something to do with the topic. Although I'm sure some of the females on the site (yeah, we have them) might get offended.

Actually the poly dog-bone will take vibration away from your tranny and transfer it into the body of the car. Also gives a better "feel" for how the engine is running. Reduces tranny fade percentage and transfers that lost torque to the wheels. And although the transfer is louder inside the cockpit, there is no sound from it outside. I wish I could get a full set of polys. For Mom and Pop, poly sucks, but for performance..only way to go. I've noticed on this site, this is one of the first mods done.
If you are driving a Chevy, everything else, is just a blur. 3.4 Carbon Footprint.

            Ok.

I'm trying to sell my Beretta, but if nobody buys for my asking price, 2500.00, then I'll continue to work on it. The poly mounts seem like a good idea. The rocker arm mounting surface needs to be machined correct? I'll look into it. With Famoso down the street there are plenty of machine shops here and performance shops too. The LS1 rocker arms are longer right? This should misalign the pushrod just a minute amount. If they physically fit I don't see a problem. I want a 1.8 ratio.

Well its good to hear things are fixed up but if it has a vacuum line wouldnt that make it a MAP sensor?
