  • Head roughness

At the point at which the gas passes in the lower intake and in the head how rough should this be 40,80,120.Just read the stuff on why it should be rough just wondering how rough or is it just not polished at these points.

40 is a bit coarse, 80 or 120 would be better, not sure if 120 would make it too smooth though.. i'd stick with 80 if i were gonna do my heads personally ( i figure they are gonna flow enough without porting them at all)

I dunno what grit it is, but I use rough sand paper rolls at an extra low speed.

Okay so basically we just dont want it polished it could hurt the fuel combustion process.

i leave mine 80grit on the intake side.

but yeah you dont want to make it smooth. you dont want it smooth due to pulling the fuel out of atomization. will cause fuel puddling.

How rough is too rough? Could you go with the 120 grit to be on the safe side or is there a limit?

i use 120 cartridge rolls, 80 would be fine im sure.

With everyone talking about fuel puddling, does it not depend on the spray pattern of the injectors? I wouldn't think it would be a problem except for maybe the last half inch or so towards the valve opening.
