Can you put 3100 springs on 3.1L heads without any modifications to the head. I dont see why you couldnt, but Im just curious.

Is there a difference in spring strengths?

yeah as long as you use the rest of the 3100 spring hardware, including the 1 peice seat/stem-seal

Can they take more lift than 3.1L springs?

I havent put both stock springs on a spring tester to get load ratings, but as far as coil bind is concerned it may take a little more lift. read up on this, cant remember if the data is there or not:

No, that link gives coil binds for all the after market springs, but not the stock 3.1L or 3100. Maybe Brian will do what we talked about the other night, and put them in a vise with a torque wrench on it! Or put one of each on a head and rotate his 3.2 over

har har, I really dont think I can do that. I think I'm just going to do the conversion, cause quite frankly it can't possibly be worse....it's not like I'm trying to retrofit iron-headed valve springs on!

The iron head 3.4L springs have 105 lbs at the seat according to the gm performce catalouge. I think that stock springs have under 80lbs at the seat but not posative. Also the 3.4 springs will handle more lift with no problems :P
Why pay someone to do the work, it costs alot and you don\'t learn s*^t!!!

Use the new crate engine springs with the matching retianers. I think they are actually the exact same as the Crane Cams 60*V6 springs.

those are the same springs that akira made refrence to, previous to your post...
those are the 3.4L "conversion package" engine springs.
