Talk to The_Raven or see the post by berettaspeed a few treads down on turbocharging your 2.8. The best mod you can make to your 2.8 is a 3400 top end swap from a FWD car.. that will bump your compression up and it flows just as good as a stock SBC. You can buy a cam for it from the aftermaket with costome pushrods or use the roller cam/lifter and guides with a little know how. But again...this is costing just as much as your typical SBC swap or 4.3 swap.

As far as bolt ons..besides the headers would be the 3.4 camaro top end swap as mentioned($35-70). Try some 1.6 ratio rocker from a early 3100 power fwd car (free-20)(do this fit iron head???). Ram air is as close as your going to get to forced induction without skipping your next insurance payment(free-$40). This is still maybe 15s. But even the 305s can just muster 15s.

I dont know man. Heres the thing. You want to go drag racing. Once you start you are not gonna be satisfies with just a 14 something when all the other F-bodies are knocking off 13's or better.

I would not do a V8 swap it is a hell of an undertaking. I would sell it off to someone looking for a street car and go find an LT1. With minimal bolt on effort you are doing 13's. Parts are cheep and plentiful.

At least this is what I would do.
      1993 EXT. CAB, 3.4L V6 TBI, 5spd manual. Sonoma
      1990 4Door, 3.2L V6 TBI, 5spd manual. 4X4. Trooper
      Because... I am, CANADIAN

I know the LT1 whole car is the best idea, but this was my first car, and it's almost like I can't get rid of it. Plus my parents don't think I should be wasting my money on gas for a V8, so I'm not 18 (I won't be able to sell my car . . .w ell i couldn't anyways because my name isn't on the title . . . ), so basically I have to stick with this car. shit, i don't even know if they'd let me get a 3.4L. the top end choice below the 5.7L LT1 is the 3.8L. 3.4L is below 3.8L.

I say sell it. You will never be happy with your V6.

go buy a V8 equipped car and hop that up. Even if you do an enging build or put 1500 into it, most likely you will still be beat by stock v8's of the same year barring the 305 TBI motor.

just get the 2.8 going and when you have time and money, and the title, do something cool, like boost. you can get a 3.4 from a yard and build it up while the 2.8 drives. since the only difference is the actual displacement, you can build a 3.4 and swap it without having to change the trannys bellhousing, or the crossmembers or mounts, etc... the headers for the 2.8 would move right over, and pretty much anything else external bolt on, like ram air or pulleys.

damn! that's a pretty good idea. i think i'll think more about that. the only thing is that we don't really have a truck or anything to be able to transport the motor nor a motor stand to hold it up in the garage or something. could i put it in a storage facility? thanks for all the help/advice, guys

You can get an engine stand for ~$40. If you protect it good enough, you could just keep it in the backyard or something while you work on it. The key would be to keep it protected. It'd be much cheaper than a storage facility.

I would put the 3.8 under the 3.4....TRUST ME. Unless its the 3800 SC.

I see where your comming from. Some people just have it bad..especially if you live in appartments...and use a parkade.

I say look for a good job and save all the money..then trade that sucker in..or do your swap at a friends house after you buy everthing you need.

yeah well i found an engine not far from me, it's a 350, he said he could have a mechanic install it for me for extra (engine is 600, i'm guessing he'd want 800+ to install it). i don't know yet. 'rents are still stubborn and shit. waiting for calls back from a lot of places for a job.
