  • Slowly making progress - Updated 12/18/05

Finally finished my headers and they are ready for coating. Hope to get them out for coating this week or next.

Still have some work to do on my UIM. I need to make new lower flanges since the first set were too thin and are shrinking and warping from the welding. Was considering a carbon fibre plenum but just have too many projects going on right now. Maybe some other time.

When I get all the fabrication completed, I am going to go thru the motor. If I get the money, I would like to put in some small block H-beam rods and forged pistons. That or I will end up with a fresh rings, valve job and some minor porting.

Still looking for a good deal on a pair of T-25's to hang off the end of the headers.

    Marc

Thanks guys... Hope to get it done some day before too long. I may swap the headers, LIM, UIM and cam into the 3100 until I get the 3400 long block done. I would really like to get this thing to around 350hp or so. I think it is possible and could be reliable. I know the tranny will need some attention also but I think it will be less of an issue for me since I am only pushing around 1500#. I would be really happy if I could get this thing into the 10's.

I have no doubts. Marc is one of the best toolmakers I have seen. His "toy" is awesome. (Kiss enough ass for another ride yet?) :P

                    Thanks for the props guys.
10's would be great but the funny thing is I rarely speed... just like to get to the speed limit quick.
The plenum has around 185ci volume and the runners are about 2.5" longer than stock.

And Dennis, no ass kissing needed... you can stop by anytime. Have you made any progress on your intake?

do you have any estimates of how much taller it is compared to the stock unit though , or could you just measure how high it is off the LIM, i can measure a stocker (im considering making something similar, but want to have an idea of how much i would need to modify stuff)

SC... sorry I didnt put that in my last post. It is just under 5" tall from the flange. The stock 3400 UIM is around 2.5" It could be a little shorter if the plenum was lower from its current position.

They headers are off for coating this coming week. $175 for set at AFI in Piqua, OH. http://www.afipowder.com I am sending them along with a header for a Turbo Honda at the same time ($100 for the Honda header). They are giving a little discount since there is more than one set. Really anxious to see the final result.
