  • head install how to?

My heads are ready to install on my 3400, but I realized I don't know how to do this. I'm using studs instead of the bolts that come stock. The service manual says to cover them in sealant. I was planning on using red loctite and some instant RTV gasket goo. Is this acceptable? Also, are the studs supposed to have play when they are hand tightened into the holes that allow me to wiggle them around? Do I need to double nut the threads and torque them to the value in 3400 specs, or do I just need to torque it down the final time when the heads are installed? Thanks for input.

Coat the bottom of the studs in RTV or thread sealer. Tighten hand tight or just snug. DO NOT TORQUE DOWN.

Then install the gaskets and heads and torque the nuts to spec.
