  • 2.8 rocker arms???

I have a 2.8 L out of a camero in my car and i want to put a higher ratio rocker arm in it to get a little extra lift. I was told that the small block chevy rockers will bolt on. i have a set of 1.6 ratio roller rockers from a smallblock that i want to put on if possible. Any idea?

does anybody know what ratio of the stock rockers are?

the stock ratio is 1.5, or 1.52. if you have the sbc rockers on hand, you can just slap them on and check to see if everything fits. i know jegs and i think summit sell roller tipped rockers, and full roller rockers for the 2.8

roller rockers just reduce friction, thats lets a barely, if at all, noticeablr amout of power out. if you have more agressive mods, it probably makes a difference. but again not much. if your going max effort, you want every little bit, i got them because its one of tyhe few things actually out there.

uping the ratio will net a few hp. but then its an easy way to do it. mods work best with each other, by themselves they dont shine as bright.

you will have to retain your stock pivot ball and nuts if you go with SBC stuff. As our rocker arms have a M10 stud with metric threads.

SBC stuff is all 3/8ths and standard threads.

Or you can just buy Comp Cams' 1.6:1 ratio Magnum Roller tip rocker arms that are made for the 60v6.
            pn: 1414-12 for 1.6:1

            (1.52:1 roller tips are 1413-12)

If you are putting on 1.6:1 ratio rockers, You WILL need new springs to take the extra lift.

And you must buy new spring retainers because all the aftermarket and GM springs use a taller install height.

i found out the hard way than the iron heads components dont interchange with the aluminum heads, thicker valve stems and stuff. you can get quite a bit of cool stuff for iron heads, crane has retainers and locks, and everything else cam related.
