  • A/C delete pulley, if you got one made up, show me please!

I searched alittle and couldn't find what i needed, so i had to make a new post.

to avoid looking for and spending money on something that serves only one purpose, taking up space on the belt, i want to make an ac delete pulley. i havent come across any pics of anyones projects on the matter. i just wanna see what others have done, so i can get an idea of what i'm in for.

What is the pulley diameter? i have a smog pump from an f-150, could i use that to evac my crankcase?

I realize you're not wanting to spend money on one, but GMPD still carries them for like $12 or something. Sadly, I don't have the part number.

$12!, i'll spend that, its not like $100+ for the compressor.

i looked just a min ago, i cant find anything 6cyl related except for the astro.

i have a pulley that should work, i just need to make a bracket and get some bearings. but im all for easy, if i could get on that just bolts on that would kick anus.

Ok, what generation is this for? GenII have a spot right on the front cover for the delete pulley.

Heading up to the dealership will save a bunch of time making a pulley work, it's also been proven to work well, and cheap too.

withou a pulley? it looks like witout a pulley you dont have the belt contact to run the water pump. i'm going to pick up my PS lines and the downpipe today after lunch, if you can throw a PN at me within a couple of hours i'll order one today, otherwise it'l have to wait till another day. i just dont feel like spending 50+ on a used copressor to take up the belt slack.

www.cardomain.com/id/germsws pictures are there somewhere, i think on page 4???

ive done it to my 3400

i just used a standard idler pulley that came off of the engine (grand am) that is not used for the monte carlo belt design (due to location and orintation of the alt)

Curse Bob Pulte chevrolet! they didnt have any clue as to what i was talking about, and didnt seem to want to help.
But the KOI down the block had what i wanted, in stock too, for $15. just not the stupid one-of-a-kind bolt that holds it in place, M12 1.75 X ?MM, with a big shoulder, now i need something to take up the slop between the bolt i have, and the bearing.

Thanks for all your help guys, you saved me from hours of tormenting myself.

there shouldnt be any slop between the bolt and the bearings center section, if there is, you need to get another bolt or another pulley to fit the bolt that you must use. if you dont have matching parts for this, the pulley is going to "wobble" and/or be off center and ruin the bolt/bearings/center section very quickly.

home depot, lowes, menards, ace, true value, or any other hardware store should have the bolt as well.

an m12x1.75 is a common size, and they come in many lengths, just get one that is about 1" longer and a washer if you need to.
