Yea they are nice rockers but arn't they really expensive for just a roller tip gain from your stock 1.6 roller fulcrum rockers?

well yeah, if you have the 1.6 rollers already they arent worht it, but if you have stamped steel 1.5 rockers like I did, they are worth it

3.1L vin T engines are the regular run of the mill 3.1L mpfi, used in Jbodies, L bodies, W bodies,
89-94 are the years for them IIRC.

those are a set of Comp Cams Magnum Roller Tip Rockers.
those ones in the pic i think are my old 1.52:1 rockers. right after that pic i swapped out and went to a set of 1.6:1 roller tip's.

my 3.1L started out as a regular old 92 3.1LvinT, then i upgraded the valvetrain in it..... Comp Cam cam/Rockers/lifters, and the LS1 springs,
the old Gen2 engines never used roller rockers, they were shit stamped steel crap. thus the upgrade of the roller tips. (much cheaper than crane gold extruded full rollers..)

then later on, i upgraded to the full 3X00 top end on the old block. didnt use the 1.6:1 stock roller rockers because at the time i didnt want to order custom pushrods to make them work... (non roller cam, with the 1.6:1 GM rockers requires a custom lenth pushrod) i should have done it that way though. ah well hindsight is 20/20. that and now that i own a pushrod lenth tool it makes it heaps easier... maybe next engine i'll do them like that.

i run a valve lift of .469 now with those springs

i had just OEM LS-1 valve springs put on my 3400 heads. the guy that did all the machine work on them does work on race cars, and he said i wouldnt need anything else to have them work, everything apparently worked and fit properly.

OK, so after reading all this let me see if I got this right. If I want to put LS1 valve springs on a 3400 head all I need is a different valve stem seal? Anyone have a part number. My dad works at a dealership so I can get parts cheap. I already have a complete set of LS1 springs, shims, and retainers. Also wondered if anyone knows how much the titanium LS1 retainers cost?

yes. if you already have: retainers, locks, spring shims, and springs from the LS1 engine.
all you need is just a set of 3.1L VIN"T" valve seals..

(as the stock 3X00's seals dont fit inside the spring.)

Ah, I see what you're saying now. I just went out and test fitted the spring and the stock seal and shim is one piece and the LS1 spring won't fit over it. I'll see if my dad can order me some of those T seals. I assume since you refered to them as 3.1L VIN"T" they are from the old iron head 3.1L engine and not the 3100 right? Thanks a lot for the info.

Oh yeah, in case anyone wanted clarification. I noticed the stock retainers and the LS1 retainers are the same diameter and either one will fit. The LS1 retainers are slightly thicker and heavier though and probably a better choice. Both use the same locks.
