  • '94 Camaro 3.4 - Can I upgrade heads?

There have been several threads (mostly elsewhere) that lead me to believe that I can put newer heads (maybe even aluminum) onto my 3.4 liter RWD motor.
Can anyone offer any definitive info - ie Specific model that fit with fairly minimal modification. All links appreciated.

PS: This will be going into a www.StalkerV6.com - Edelbrock intake, Hollet 390 CFM 4 barrell.

    TIA, Jim Gunther
    Be well,

Its been done, but you have to use the FWD intake manifolds as well, and the exhaust manifolds have to be swapped or custom headers used.

Plus, if you use the aluminum heads, your Compressio Ratio will be high, around 11-12:1

Yea with new heads it means new pistons. Edelbrock intakes are made for IRON heads so if you want that intake and a carb it cannot have aluminum heads.

That settles it. Maybe I'll just go for the SuperSix head work somewhere down the line.
          Thanks guys - Be well,

dont forget the alumnium heads (in stock form) will flow better than supersix heads , but yeah its gonna be a PITA to get the alumnium heads on , only russell has done it so far.. i'll be on that list by summer 04

Umm, I did it in my Jimmy as well.

It's not that bad, as long as you realize that to use stock (unmodified) parts, you will need to use at least an MPFI ECM that supports DIS ignition. Headers can be modified at the flange to match the aluminium head ports and bolt pattern.

I will hopefully soon have a write up on a 660 site that is intended for these types of swaps, hybrids and complete swaps into vehicles that were never equipped with them. I have started on the article, it's just going to take some time to complete.

what would the CR be if the pistons from the 3x00 car were used?

                    compression ratios

That would depend on the head gasket thickness and design of the piston, not to mention piston down bore measurements. Email me directly and I'll work it out for you.
