  • Iridium spark plugs

Are iridium spark plugs really worth the extra money? I need to replace the plugs on my '01 3100 and would like to know if I should move from the regular AC platinums to the iridiums. I'm a little aprehensive about changing since I did get 95,000 miles off of the factory AC platinums.

They will last much longer and will stand up better to a more powerful spark if you upgrade the ignition.

I will be doing the same soon since I run a .080 gap on standard plugs now. They wear out quick and I have to re gap them every 3 months or so.

I thought you shouldn't be running anything but regular AC Delcos.

They are AC Dleco. New engines come equipped with them.

I know guys running NGK iridium plugs in their 3x00 for about 75K miles now with no problem.

I ended up just buying the regular AC platinums. Didn't want to spend the extra $10 when I don't need to yet. If I end up doing my FI project, then I will go to iridium.
