Hey, i was just thinking, and would it be better benefit compression wise to use 3.1 pistons and iron head gaskets, or regular gaskets with 3100 pistons. anyone still paying attention to this topic let me know what you think.

i dont think it makes much difference either way, i think you're better of with the 3100 pistons personaly, they have the quench thing going on which is better.

i just tinkered on the DD2K program, a 3100 piston bored .030" and using the headgaskets i got at KOI (3.652" bore x .055" (uncompressed)) it came up to 9.89:1, the 3.1piston sort of came weakly over the 9.3 mark i think. it all depends on what you want to do. not sure in the thckness of the gasket when compressed, it might have an issue, but if i rember correctly the pakage it came in seemed to have a pretty universal aplication. youd have to check to be sure tho.

hey, thanks for your insight. I was looking in the section of this site at the pistons pages, and i dont know which ones to get. if i were to just go with 3100 pistons .030"over, which piston should be the correct part number?

H692 or H809, add a CP to the end of either one for the skirt coatings to prevent cylinder wear.
