  • confused.. max cam lift with 3.4L?

    Aight,
First and foremost, hello everyone, im new here... so please bare with me as i write you a novel.. im trying to get information on a 3.4L cam and havent found adequate answers as of yet.

aight,on wtih the questions... I'm buot to do a cam swap on a 3.4L for my 95 camaro. I was gonna get in on a group buy over at lonestarsix.com and they are offering a custom grind with specs 226/234 (intake/exhaust) duration and .471/.498 lift with somehting round 110-112 LSA. I also wanna run 1.6 roller rockers. will this be possible without having clearance issues with the valve guides, pistons, and such? if i would have clearance issues, how could i solve them? i have access to a machine shop so i'd imagine that i could shorten the valve guides by myself. I'm also going to port and polish and redo the entire valvetrain (will reuse valves, but thats it). How bout other injectors? i was planning on puttin a 255lph fuel pump and adjustable regulator on as well. I realize that im askin a lot here but i really need answers and i couldnt find any thing previous that discussed this topic in detail. Thanks for your help...

That lift is fine but you MUST change springs. You need to use the Crane or GM springs with the required retainers. You must also change retainers because the install height requirement on the new springs is .100 more.

    Have fun.

lol, have fun..that sounds a bit ominous.... ill be doing this all on a motor sitting out of the car on a stand however so hopefully it wont be too painful.
Any case, thanks for the advice. I'm looking to scale the cam back a bit to around a .500-.510 lift with the 1.6 rockers only cause id rather error on the safe side with this a bit. Plus the lack of tuning software for my car would make it that much harder to get the bigger cam to work properly.. thanks for advice though.

I have never looked into it. But find out if .5 lift will actally be beneficial. There is a point where the valve is open so much so that the port then becomes the limiting factor and any valve lift beyond that amount is useless movement.
