  • Aftermarket Distributers?

Who makes an aftermarket Distributer for 95 camro 3.4 block? MSD? If so which one is best?

    RE: Aftermarket Distributers?

never heard of there being any aftermarket ones. if you are running a carb and no ecm, you will need to find a distributor from an 80-85 that is vaccume advance and does not have the pickup coil in it. this is about your only bet. they do have weights in them and you can tune the spark curve through the weights.

Say you are running the MSD 6AL ignition box and MSD GM blaster coil, won't the advance be controled electronicly through the box?

No all an ignition box does is take a spark signal and creates a capacitive discharge through the box. Most also create multiple spark. The box then has the ability to adjust timing based on certian inputs. For example 1* retard of timing for every pound of boost applied.

There are no aftermarket distributors avalible. But there really is no need.

          Actually guys, there is....

I just found one the other day.

          Proform P/N 67082

Suggested retail is $358 CDN, but I can get them for less than that.

These are an HEI type distributer, with the coil in cap.

So were early generation distributors. Is this casting any beter than stock? A rebuild perhaps? Or all new crazy high output distrubutor?

The only info I have, have already posted, they don't look rebuilt, but cleaners can do wonders. Even still rebuilts are generally very good.
