  • FFP billet dogbone install

I finally got around putting the FFP dogbone on my 3.1 5spd. I was able to get my old dogbone out without jacking the car which was a nice surprise. It was easy aside from fighting a rusty bolt, only two gouged knuckles. The difference between the two are obvious when laid side by side, the FFP is a very nice piece.

To get the FFP in took quite a bit of finageling. I had some thread lock/lube in key areas which helped its manuevering quite a bit. It took a few gentle whacks at one end with a hammer, and a screw driver to help line up the wholes. Whole thing took me about 20 mins.

I only have a few minutes driving the car with the dogbone in place. There is a bit more feedback in controls such as the pedals and seat of the pants. However FFP says the poly needs to break in a bit, but I dont mind feedback. I could of imagined it but it seemed like the car , due to the engine movement declining seemed to rev from 4-6k smoother with less drama...is that feasable? I am easy on my clutch since I am trying to make it last so I dont know if it chirps into 3rd. But (though it was like this before) instead of chirping 2nd like many cars do, it breaks the tires lose solidly at the upshift, no sound...its kinda cool :P

Nice. I need to get me one of those, and do something about the other mounts too.
