Intake manifold question

I have 97 lumina 3100 and need to change intake gasket. Since it will be apart what can be done to help performance. Have read about newer intake being put on. Have search a while and cant get enough info from one place to begin to figure out . Thanks for any ideas

The 97 intake is about as good as it gets. So Maybe you gould port it out or something.

97 3100 you should still have the "smaller" Vin M manifolds. Get a '96-99 3400 lower and upper manifold set, pretty much would be a complete bolt-up including the EGR. Some '99 3100's got the bigger manifolds too, and the EGR is the same as well.

Aren't the newer manifolds the ones Brad had problems with clearing the rockers on the older heads?

yup. That's another reason why I went to the roller heads when I put those manifolds on. But a '97 will have roller stock.
