    hey everyone
I have my 99 3100 out of my monte right now due to a seized rod bearing.
while i have the engine apart i think i'll be taking dremel tool the exhaust manifolds and a little to the heads, and am looking into some better valve springs, possible cam. and maybe some work to lower plenum and more to the upper plenum if i can find the right wheel for some polish.
I'm actually hopeing to do a 3400 swap but looks like i'll be able to get away with this cheaper then i thought with rebuild the 3100, but anyways
you guys have more ideas of what i can do while i got the thing apart besides the obvious pullies and what not.

by the way i am a MYMONTE.COM member NightRunner and would like to say wassup to sappy if he remember me back when i had my 1995 S-10 with the funky chip and he told me about this site about 3 or 4 years ago

make sure if you're porting and polishing that you only polish what you are suppose to. You probably know what you are doing, and I've never done it before but just a little FYI.
    Welcome to the board.

yup i know there are certain ways to do things and Sappey is cool enough to give a very good walkthrough on how to do this on my heads which i just finished reading.
I've done similar work like this already on my upper plenum, TB and MAF but this will be my first time on heads.
and Thank you, pleasure to be here

Using a dremel when porting is really just a waste of time. I would recommend investing in a die grinder and some carbide bits and sandpaper rolls and do a decent job on it. Why do a half-ass job with a dremel when you could do a really good job (and get some good gains) with better tools. And whatever you do, don't follow in a certain other MyMonte member's shoes...

i just say dremel because most people know what that is
i actually use a die grinder, and i have both air and electric, and i prefer my air die grinder. and a good ranger of bit and roll but i need to down to the hardware store and get some more sandpaper rolls and some tappered ones

... not as much gains as if you switched over to the newer style intake...

well from the looks of it i'll most likely be able to repair the 3100 cheaper then i thought so i'll probly be sticking with it and doing all this work to it, just more money for more parts
