  • DHP computer upgrade for Gen 3 3100 SFI

I just recieved an answer to an email I sent DHP and they that can do chips for the Gen 3 3100 motor and quoted me a price of 215$ + 100$ core + 12$ shipping for my 2000 Malibu and with thier new Power Tuner, this offers an even more powerful option to custom tune these motors. I figured I'd pass this information along for those not aware.

As of right now, according to their webpage, the gen 3 3100 isn't a supported motor of the Power Tuner, but they may add support later.

My understanding is that it is just what they call their package for editing the on board computer. Simply but, its a flash programmer.

pfyc.com claims-"Dynamometer testing has shown up to an 6 to 10 HP gain in 60 degree temperatures on a development vehicle using 93 octane fuel." on a 3400.

some of the other things this computer upgrade might (or might not) be able to do:
                - Speed limiter removed
                - 3-1 and 4-2 skip shifts (Active in performance shift mode only*)
                - Transmission line pressure increased (Active in performance shift mode only*)
                - Shift points moved (5800-6000rpms) (Active in performance shift mode only*)
                - Fan turn on points altered:
                - 186 degree turn on
                - 2 minute fan on at key-off (this feature activates when engine coolant is 179 degrees or greater)*Does not apply to 2000-200

You have a 200, so of course they will do it. They've done custom ones for people all the way down to 97s. But if you are any older than that, don't get your hopes up.

I like my DHP, definetely noticable difference with rev limiter/skip shifts etc. haven't tried out my top speed yet and with winter I dont' think I'll try it either. I wish I had gotten the programmer but at the time it wasn't out, oh well maybe next time.

Just because its a 96 doesn't mean the programming is the same. I'm just going off of what I've heard on other forums.
