Hi All,
I'm looking for opinions on porting an Edelbrock lower intake so the right and left runner openings are a closer match side-to-side. Edelbrock obviously did this 'choking' on purpose and I'd bet they'd say to leave it alone. Of course, if we all left stuff alone, they'd be hurting.
So here is my question. What do you think will happen if I get out my die grinder and burn some of that extra material out of the small ports?
It doesn't look like a perfect match is possible on the top ports (carb side) as there doesn't appear to be enough meat between the underside of the intake and the port. An EGR runner is also pretty close on one of them. Even so, quite a bit could be removed from the top. It wouldn't be a perfect match but closer than what it is now.
The bottom ports (head side) look like they could be matched with no problem as there is plenty of material.
