  • Porting an Edelbrock Torker II Intake

    Hi All,

I'm looking for opinions on porting an Edelbrock lower intake so the right and left runner openings are a closer match side-to-side. Edelbrock obviously did this 'choking' on purpose and I'd bet they'd say to leave it alone. Of course, if we all left stuff alone, they'd be hurting.

So here is my question. What do you think will happen if I get out my die grinder and burn some of that extra material out of the small ports?

It doesn't look like a perfect match is possible on the top ports (carb side) as there doesn't appear to be enough meat between the underside of the intake and the port. An EGR runner is also pretty close on one of them. Even so, quite a bit could be removed from the top. It wouldn't be a perfect match but closer than what it is now.

The bottom ports (head side) look like they could be matched with no problem as there is plenty of material.

Can you take some pics? Most of us don't know that manifold looks and words really aren't the best thing to go by.

Also, if you can measure the lengths of all the runners, and the width/height of the runners as well since you want to open a few of the runners up.

my torker II 2-0 for my big block is the same way, the 2 inner ports on each side are smaller.

Here are a couple threads on PFF discussing porting the edlebrock manifold. The first thread has some pictures of porting done to the intake:

Here are the links direct to the pictures:

Thanks for the links. Sounds like a loss on the low end.

The edelbrock manifold was made to create a flat torque curve. Its used in conjuntion with the edelbrock cam and crappy 1 1/4 drivers side primary 1 1/2" passengers side primary size header tes.

Junk. Sell the manifold and buy an Offenhauser 2.8 manifold grab a 272 cam or better yet a solid cam and grab some Black jack true dual 1 1/2" primay headers and a 4 barrel carb bigger than the 390. HP recipe
