I would think the reason they shift lower would have more to do with the engine not revving that high in a stock config than with the tranny. Just my thought though...

agreed, don't the valves float around like 6200 or so stock as well?

I say rev it up to 6500 on a dyno and see if the extra 500 rpm are worth it in terms of power

Good point. I still worry about my engine though... I can't afford to rebuild it if I blow it. Plus my parents said this is the last time I can have the garage. After it's out and running thats it, until I get my own place.

I hear that, living with parents and having to chose between eating lunch every day or that hell of a deal on ebay for an intercooler can do that.

Are the seals sitting kinda high on the valve guides in that pic or is some optical trickery confusing me?

Thats what i thought at first I used one of my old valve to push them on, and I can get them on any further There is about a 6MM Gap from the shim to the seal.

Anyone elce manage to get them on more? They are on there very tight, I can still pull them off by hand but it takes some work.

Well, here are some pics of my finished heads (with the springs on) so it's kind of hard to see how they fit, but you can see them.

I pushed mine on with a a socket that fit around the lower part of the valve seal and a hammer.
Maybe your valves just aren't pulled all the way up into the heads and that's why it looks funny.

in the picture which is the valve seal? that red rubber base, or that teal thing above it?

                      just learning....

So i'm guessing that the valve seats fit both the intake and exhaust valve? so it would be 1 part X 12? 2122?

teal thing on his heads is the valve seal and the red thing (should be metal, not rubber, looks sorta like copper in that pic) is the spring seat

on mine the teal or black things are the valve seals (for some reason I got two different colors) and the black things under the springs are spring seats (apparently I used a different kind)

Yeah that kind of odd, But the part number i gave them was the on i got off here and it was listed as Shims for the LS1.

As for the seals, I went around and tryed to get them on more, but i think they are on as much as they will go.

well if it won't go on anymore it must be done
the spring seats I used were a set of isky seats for something or another, I lost the part number, they were a direct fit unlike the LS1 seats which alledgedly need to be ground out a little, this accounts for why yours and mine look different

I did one that way, then said "forget it" as I messed it up and found these...I'll try and post a part number or something and make everyone else's life easier.
