  • 3x00 Cam Update!

    From 3x3 on GAGT.com

Thanks to Chris White & Colin for their help in getting me what I needed to get to this point. We are very close to getting the cam. I got off the phone today with my contact who will start next week in making 100 cam cores. After this is completed Comp Cams will purchase the cores and will put out a press release along with part numbers. There will be 4-6 versions of the cam but of course you could request for a special profile. Creating the cores will take 3 to 4 weeks. I was told once Comp Cams issues a press release with the part numbers that anyone can start ordering a cam. I'll keep you posted when I hear any updates.
Here is a link to the thread: http://www.grandamgt.com/forum/showt...627#post526627

And I'll try to keep everyone over here updated as to what is going on.

You can use either sensor from 94-99 or 00-02 and it will work with either cam from 94-02. The signal send to the PCM is exactly the same. The difference between the design is a single tooth versus a missing tooth. But either way, the sensor will spike at the exact same spot. Now, starting in 03 is a different story...

Could you not install an old style cam and change to an old style sensor? Or will it still not work?

This is sounding good for us but im wondering if it will affect my 3400 because im not running the OBDII ECU. Maybe it won't help my car as much as others? does anyone know how these cams will affect people that have done engine swaps with MPFI, instead of SFI injection?

You wont have to worry about the cam sensor, and thats about the only difference. Of course, you will have to retune for the cam to get the most benefit but OBD1 and OBD2 don't matter one bit as far as the cam is concerned.
