There is a HUGE difference in traction. 1.8 short times on street tires are not hard to get.
Some of the guys with Caddy 4.9 engines and automatics with tall 1st gears to let them clear the 60 without shifting are getting 1.7's on street tires.
FieroX hit a 1.55 on DR's with his old L67. His new turbo 3800 doesn't launch as hard, though...
Current:
\'87 Fiero GT: 12.86@106 - too dam many valves; ran 12.94 @ 112 on new engine, then broke a CV joint
\'88 Fiero Formula: slow and attention getting; LZ8 followed by LLT power forthcoming
\'88 BMW 325iX: The penultimate driving machine awaiting a heart transplant
Gone, mostly forgotten:
\'90 Pontiac 6000 SE AWD: slow but invisible
For instance... look at the right column of the far right timeslip. The Fiero has the quickest 60' of any of these 5 cars... and 2.0 is not that great a 60' for a Fiero.

for me it isn't about pure speed. it's about competition. It's pushing colin to keep going, it's pushing my buddies to try harder too. all the guys in our hobby shop have ass kicking cavaliers becasue we challenge each other.if I just wanted to go as fast as possible, I'd be flipping the N20 switch all the time. :P My car has no first gear anymore, that's pretty much enough for me

maybe my \"dreams\" should be a little higher :P
ohh that fiero blew something at th 1/8 mile he could have done better. i think he must have had a 3800 SC but he blew a coolant hose i think. I think i spelt that wrong on the time slip though. LOL I back off my gas alittle because i though he was going to BLOW LOL

I'd guess a 3800 as well... It's a lot more common to see a Fiero with that engine at a drag strip than it is to see one with a V8. Dunno why...

i know this is the V6 board, but i got an 87 sunbird now with a 2.3HO in it, and i bet you it would give these hybrid Jbodies a run for their money on the strip.... i know it should be trapping pretty high.
i got a spare set of W41 cams, a header, UDP and a set of slicks to help.
yea, im named jonathan, but SVC stands out more than just jon, so alot of people just call me SVC.
hey colin, you know the "V6HO" badges you have on your bird....well, i have a set of chrome badges from a "Quad 4" car, that im going to be putting on my 87 sunbird, just behind the corner lights. since its a red car with a black top (2 tone paint scheme), i think i may paint those badges flat black.
y u guys always gotta forget me? the rookie LOL. the 3400 is running supergood and i have a good feeling about this year n/a. boost is coming soon but i cant wait until track opens to test-n-tune
