Yesterday while at Saskatoon International Raceway in Saskatoon Sask, I recieved the words ive been waiting to hear for a while now:
(track assistant on walkie talkie)
"Yes i'll tell him..."
"your going to need a Helmet, Your going to fast, and thats a compliment"
ran a 13.99 @ 95.22 MPH, 1.92 60 foot time. which with the Altitude conversion (1600feet above sea level) factor for Saskatoon is 13.74 @ 96.2
and this is on a stock bottom end. nothing elaborate or special. stock replacement 8.9:1 pistons(milled heads thin gasket for higher CR), stock rods, stock crank, stock main/rod bolts.
just a camshaft, and 3100 heads, (not even the large port/large valve 3400 style) the 3400 intakes, and my headers.
backed it up with a 14.01 @ 95.31 mph 1.9560foot time, (13.76 @ 97 with altitude correction) and unfortunatly that was the end of the day. there was 140 cars there yesterday, and out of 4hours i got 5 runs in. first run of the day a 14.3 (1.92 60 foot)to which we leaned out the Fuel, added in 1 degree of spark, which gave us a 14.16(1.888 60 foot -My Best ever 60 foot time), again less fuel and 1 more degree of spark, 14.15 (1.94 60Ft.) , and then i put on the 64mm throttle body instead of the 60mm ive had on the car for a long time. this got me down in the 13's.
this is a Performance first for the Jbody scene so i thought i'd share.
im waiting for some more times like this to come from the Jbody community. there are a few guys who are close!
I'm very stoked to be the first N/A 60degreev6 Jbody in the 13's... now i can park the car for a while and figure out what i want to do with it.
not sure if i should finish building this other engine i have, or just let it sit for a few years and in the meantime buy something new, at least i accomplished my goal for the car, now i can sit back and let it sit for a while..
hopefully i'll have a vid to show when i get it off my buddies vid camera.
big thanks to my friends Buzz, Rich, Glen and Mike for the help at the track that day we trecked 8 hours from Winnipeg(got home last night at 3am) all the way out to 'Toon just to race the car and try the track out.. Great track by the way. much better than our track back here we race at in Gimli Manitoba,
also a big thanks to my buddy back here in WPG, Mike R who again lent me his slicks to run on.
