  • Iron Head 2.8 Intake on a Gen.2 3100 Motor?

I was wondering, can I put the Edelbrock Intake designed for the early 2.8 RWD motors, on a 1996 3100 aluminum headed motor. I have a MegaJolt Lite Jr. setup that would give me spark. If the Edelbrock intake can be made to work, I'll buy a water pump-less timing cover and put it in a lttle go gart I have!.................Quintin

Nope, sorry. The gen1 iron heads are completely different from the gen2/3 aluminum heads, so the intakes are not interchangable.

Well then, I don't suppose I could bolt a set of 2.8 iron heads onto my '96 3100 block?

Not unless you also swap for some 3.1 iron head pistons from a Lumina APV, Isuzu Rodeo, or Camaro. The combustion chamber volumes and piston dishes are different, so the compression would be too low.
