    yup gm lists the 3.4 iron head gen 1 as being 9.0:1 compresion. NOT 9.6:1

          My Sealed power piston book has these numbers listed for Compression Height:
          2.8L
          Compression height 1.598 or 1.578

          3.1L vin "T" and "D" 1.442 comp height.

          3100's 1.480

          3.4L 93-95 "S" iron head 1.450

          3.4L 96-03 Ld Truck/Car 1.478

          3.4L DOHC 1.464 (uses 1.20 top ring, 1.50 2nd, 3.0 oil)
          or 3.4L dohc 1.458 Plus .040 DOME. (uses 1.5 top and 2nd rings, 4.0 oil)
