  • L67 injectors in 3.1/3400 hybrid?

Im not going to go into why I need the injectors. Some people know, some dont.
Regardless, Im looking for some injectors that provide much more flow. I have the multec II 3400 injectors but they are only like 22-23lb/hr and that will barely flow enough for my current "slow" setup. I'd rather not have to re-tune everything later so Im looking for a cheap alternative.

L67 injectors are like 36 lb/hr but Im concerned about getting the car to idle properly with them. I remember hearing something about somebody having a problem turning down the flow at low rpms. Something about not being able to adjust the minumum pulse width enough to run stoich.
Does anyone have any input on this? I cant see the L67 injectors flowing THAT much at idle, but they are run SFI on the L67 arent they? This will be batch firing. I just want to make sure Im not going to have idling issues before I drop the money on them.

Aftermarket injectors are most definately not in the budget right now so dont bother suggesting them.

Brian tried them on his MPFI turbo dohc setup and couldn't get it to idle. I havent tried anything with that much fuel at idle so I am not sure how you could even go about tuning it with that much idle fuel unless your idle required a lot of fuel. You could run a dual injector setup that turns on another injector at a certain RPM/MAP reading. That would require an aftermarket computer setup, or some creative dual stock ECM tuning. Hmm, i think you could do that, set the 2nd bank of injectors on the 2nd ecm to flow nothing till a certain RPM range. Would be quite interesting setting it up though.

Other option that might work well is to use a FPR that increases pressure a lot more...under boost. Dunno why you wont tell us what you are doing but if its not boost this thread is pointless. If its nitrous that would have been an easy solution. Just make sure your injectors will flow what you need at WOT running 65 PSI (i believe thats a safe pressure, though you should have the injectors you select tested out first so you know for sure what their static point it on pressure.

Im not trying to keep it secret, I just didnt feel like typing it all out.
Its a custom turbo setup using a T3/T4 hybrid good to about 400-450hp.

I wont need a whole lot of fuel at idle and I'd rather not dump in an excess amount either. I dont mind a crappy idle but gas isnt getting any cheaper these days. I considered the adjustable fuel pressure regulator using the multec II injectors. Even if I cranked the static fuel pressure and didnt get an FMU Im sure I could tune the multec II's at like 60-65 psi to idle properly.

      Thanks for the input.

I'm going to be trying out some 32 lbs/hr injectors soon, from a 3.8 SC of a different breed.

I'll let you know how mine work out, and what it takes to get it to idle.

You could also run an auxilary injector set-up if idle becomes an extreeme impossibility.

          Chris,
I have some 30lb injectors...actually 29.8lb. I posted 'em a while ago for over 1 bill I could let you have 'em for 95 bucks. That is including shipping if you are interested.
they are rated to 350hp @ 43.5psi. They will push more with more fuel psi, however I don't know when you will start to get a crappy cone pattern...

No way to step up the pressure and crank up the duty cycle on the 3400 injectors?

What about 3.4L injectos from a 93-95 Camaro or Sy/Ty injectors they were on a 4.3L Turbo they may be close to your needs.
