That's odd needing 4th for a 93mph trap speed. What speed are you redlining 3rd at?

Well my 3rd gear maxes out around 83mph at 6000rpm. I shift alittle early(around 5750rpms) seems to help out a bit. All these are my times except the 11sec one. i just posted them like that so you won't have to scroll down alot. to me it seems easier to read. For an exhaust i don't have anything special. i just took off my muffler.and i used the 3400 rear manifold. otherthan that i still have a cat and its all 2" piping.

I also decided to try something and run the car with NO EXHAUST. i took off my cat and left the down pipe on the car. about 3ft of pipe total. I went on tuesday. the air was a little muggy but not too bad. track was kinda sticky but could have been better. i just wanted to see if my car would lose power or gain some. well ALOT of people told me no you need back pressure and you car will run slower and like crap. well here was my best time for that night. it did not beat my best overall time but pretty damn close, and with a higher trap speed. So much for the "backpressure" i needed. i figured with 3ft of pipe should have enough backpressure to run.

            60ft 2.219
            330 6.180
            1/8 9.450
            1000 was not working
            1/4 14.623@94.62MPH
thats more than 1MPH faster than my last best MPH. So i had to have gained HP. before i was in lower 93mph now well in 94mph. this is my 2nd best time ever. my low end needed some work but overall it was a .025 difference between my best. I think its fair to say i gain HP, but i wonder how much?

Those gears are even closer than that of the 284s. Well about the same I guess...

I redline 3rd at an indicated 95, and since I was crossing the line right at 92-93mph at 6800 in 3rd, sounds about right. I am DREADING taking the car to sea level, cuz I will need to go into 4th, but only for a very short amount of time. That is why I am not anticipating a very great time. However after the intake, the car shoud really drop once it has a chance to develop 4th.

What size tires do you have? You should be able to run 3rd gear to 100mph...

No I can't get it past 95, INDICATED on my speedo. So that could be off. But I am crossing the lines right near redline in 3rd, and that was about 93.

My tires are stock, 235 stock profile.(cant remember the other numbers)

If you calculate it out, the Getrag 284 at 7000 rpm should yield you 102.3 mph.

Yours might be off a bit because stock tire size is 225/60-16... not 235/xx-16 like you are running.

That is weird. Maybe my tach is high, like 6800 really is 6500. But my car is limited at 7150, and that is right where it cuts me off, my tach is just past 7 when it does. So who knows.

I think 40psi is a bit high for your tires...I'd try dropping it down for a couple runs say 30-32 and see.

Yeah I would say even lower than that, maybe 28-25psi, you shouldn't even be running 40psi on the street...

Yeah, them Dunlop tires aren't too bad eh? (for cheap tires) I have the same in a 225/50-16.

Last time I was out I ran :

My 60' times are hurting... I know what the problem is though. DO NOT install a 225 series tire on a 16X6.5" rim. I am getting a wierd wear pattern on them... Oh well.

Also, my OEM rear shocks are not cutting it anymore, lol, I will have my KYB Gas-a-just's on Wednesday

But If I could get my 1/8 times in the 9.4 range, I would be dooing alot better.

These times were ran while the car has 14.9* of Knock Retard at high RPM... I can't figure out why it has it, I even tried 105 Octane fuel, still has the knock...

6.5" is well within the recomended wheel width of a 225/50/16. The total spread is 6-8".
