What i have is a 2.8L block bored 30 over, crank turned 10 , stock heads, stock exhaust, and stock fuel injection. And this is the cam i want to get http://store.summitracing.com/defaul...-233-4&x=0&y=0
Stock cam is 282/290 .395/.410 lobe center = 109 New cam is 260/260 .440/.440 lobe center is 110.
What i want to know is this cam worth the money or should i stay stock with my old cam? And it has to pass emissions. I am going to order it today, so i would like someone else's suggestion. Thanks

Comp Cams 260 grind is a good grind, and several people on the board are either using it or have experience with it. You will have no problems with emissions with that cam. Most people will probably tell you to bump up to the 272 grind for better performance.

Where did you get those stock specs from, btw? Cause they don't look right...

I got them off the internet somewhere. Anyway how about the compucam 2020 or 2030 emissions test. How do i know if i will pass? And where can i find the 272 grind? I am using stock rocker arms and valve covers.

I am after more torque than top end, so i think this cam should do the trick:

Edelbrock is the most respected name in performance! Since 1938, Edelbrock has manufactured its core products in the USA for quality and performance.

What is yall's suggestion? I want a stoplight to stoplight car, but a daily driver. 0-4800 RPM

The 2020 is basically a stock cam. The 2030 is a very mild grind. Here is the link to the 272:

That link is for a Ford 4cyl motor. What did you think about the Comp Cam in SummitRacing----> Part # CCA-16-232-4 as far as torque goes? It is a 252/252 - 206/206 - .425/.425 - 110

Well, wtf... Its around there somewhere. Do a search on the forum for either the 260 or 272 and you'll find probably all the info you would ever need. They both have been discussed here so many times already.

I myself have the COMP cams 16-233-4 camshaft, the 260/260 degree duration .440 lift camshaft.

i used to run the 16-232-4 cam a few years back -256/256 .423 lift cam.. but kicked myself over not going wiht the larger 16-233-4.,

its odd every time i see a post on this site about cams everyone refers to the comp 16-233-4 as the 260, when actually the camshaft that is called the 260 is from crane. "253901 H-260-2 (REPLACES HMV-260-2) "

the majority of guys run the CRANE cam H-260-2 camshaft. or they go all out for the H-272-2.

however i like the 16-233-4 from Comp. great mid/top end.

the 2020/2030 cams are too close to stock to notice much power increase or worth putting in.

the cam companies might recommend them. but none of us would.

This might be from 2004, but I have to hand it to him. Hardly anyone uses the search button anymore.

I apologise for the numerous questions on stuff thats probly very entry level for most of you but I'm still learning about these 3100 motors. I am just trying to avoid buying parts I won't need and spend the money where it will do the most good and give me the best performance.

Crane is no longer selling cams, but I know someone who is :P

272+ is excellent in the iron heads and keeps the lift reasonable.
