Wuz up all, I been viewing this site for a long time, and read almost every topic. I just need some help on a few things. Which would be the better choice and am I correct on assuming the horsepower to be close for each mod? If I chose to do the 3400 I would have to pay someone here on this forum(nobody here in my state wants to mess w/the harness, upgrading bigger motors that didn't come stock etc) to do it and will I still have enough room to add other mods to the 3400 like I could to the 3.1 or 3100? Can I get someone to help drop the 3400 in the corsica and how much? The engine will be in a corsica either way. Down below is what I came up with. All ? means I don't know if it can be done and if something is wrong let me know with the right hp or whatever. How they say "any info will be greatly appreciated"

    3.1 (140) 3100 (175) 3400(215)

    1. up/low manifold 7-10 hp ___ 3100 same ___ 3400 stock
    2. tb 10 hp ___ 3100 same ___ 3400 ?
    3. pulley 8-10 hp ___ 3100 same ___ 3400 ?
    4. CAI 5 hp ___ 3100 same ___ 3400 ?
    5. exhaust 5 hp ___ 3100 same ___ 3400 same
    6. spiralmax 20 hp ___ 3100 same ___ 3400 same
    7. MSD do I need ___ 3100 same ___ 3400 same
    8. up/low mounts torque ___ 3100 same ___ 3400 stock
    9. headers 10hp ___ 3100 n/a ___ 3400 ?
    10. chip 5-7 hp ___3100 n/a ___ 3400 ?
    11. camshaft 7-10hp ___ 3100 same ___ 3400 stock
    12. rocker arms 10hp ___ 3100 ? ___ 3400 stock
    13. heads 7-10hp ___ 3100 same ___ 3400 stock

    230 hp 244hp 245hp

First of all, these are just ideas. I called Steve and for 650 dollars that only had 10 hp and I can spend 210 at rsm for tb that adds the same, I probably can do without the headers! Are those 900 dollar heads worth the price? All mods are from RSM and FFP I can easily get 3.1 or 3100 corsica and 3400. I don't want to go over 2 grand for the motor altogether. Oh yeah, does anybody make a chip for the 3100 sfi? I'm trying to get all my questions answered. Brad......from reading these forums for awhile u seem 2 b the guru, so speak on it! lol
IF U BUILD IT.....THEY WILL RUN!

Well, first of a, a 3400 starts stock with max 185hp. The 215hp is the 3.4DOHC, and good luck fitting that in a Corsica.

Spiralmax at 20hp? You watch too many info-mercials. On these engines, its goos for MAYBE 1hp, although tests with similar devices have actually shown a loss in hp.

Rocker arms at 10hp? That would be if you did a major jump in the ratio, of which isn't available for these engines as well.

As far as the rest of the numbers go... unfortunately, you really can't add them up like that. Each mod can have different effects (gains/losses) depending on the other mods that are already in the equation. There are plenty of people who have spent more than the $2k you are wanting to spend (and remember, labor isn't free) and haven't really reached the numbers you are shooting for.

Well, none of those HP numbers mean jack really...cause you cant add them all and some don't do what you think (spiral max is garbage). The chip could end up being 15+ hp once you tune for every other mod. If you want ported parts, I can do them for cheaper than RSM and I am confident the power gains would be as good but probably better than theirs. Where are you located? That would probably help since you are looking for help on install.

For the computer, there is no chip for a 3100 computer, but I can easily tune the 3.1 computer to work with the 3100 or 3400. I have a few chips made for modified/high compression gen 3s but they are using the 91-93 4T60-E. You could convert a 3100 car to use the 3.1 computer as well (need one with the 4T60-E control).

should be a very simple swap. what year corsica is yours. You don't need a ECU or injectors. you might need an engine mount depending what year you car is. I think the 3400 in a corsica would rock.
