From someone who has done the whole ITB thing, And the blower thing, do not put any 16 year old in a built car. It doesn't matter how responsible you think she is, it is going to be trouble one way or another. Either it will get raced straight into a ticket, wrecked even harder than usual, or neglected 'just this once' enough to tear up.

Either come out with it and build it for you (seems to be what you are doing) or build what *she* wants to build.

I appreciate the concern for my daughter... But my thought is if she helps build it she should respect it more. I had a friend in highschool that saved all his money for a 5.0l, raced it on the weekends, delivered pizzas and didn't race on the streets. And I also had friends that would race around in a tempo...working on the car with her is more important then the finished product.

Also if we built what she wants...it would be a bike, now I love the idea but motorcycle in highschool, I can't let her do that. When I was a kid my dad and I built a 454 4-speed Vega. That experience has changed who I am, brought me closer to my dad and I learned so much. My favorite memories as a kid are in the garage with dad. I want to give my daughter and eventually my son the same memories.

A modified distributor with a longer shaft will clear the lz9 upper intake wiith a smidge of grinding on the intake. I modified this one and it does work and the engine runs. I tested it. A stock dizzy won't clear the lower intake as it interferes with the runner.

it will not clear the lz4 though without cutting and welding of the lz4.
What distributor did you used here?

Not to go too OT, but how much difference in power/torque is there between the LZ9 equipped with the variable intake and the LZ9 with the 3500 LZ4 style upper? It's confusing with the various changes in SAE official horsepower ratings over the recent years and wonder if I'd lose any power/tq with the non variable intake. Losing a few up top wouldn't be the end of the world but don't want to lose a chunk under the rpm curve.

I used a modified distributor. I lengthened the shaft. It needs to be done to clear the runner on the lower manifold.

the lz4 upper has a larger plenum and flows more. Ben did the testing on his machine. In a chevette you won't notice a lil loss in tq if there even is any
