valves could get bent a few ways.

    timing chain broke.

camshaft timing chain dowl pin breaking, causing the chain to move out of time.

sticking valve guide. (would be really tight)

    broken or weak valve spring

pushrod put in the wrong spot when reassembling the valvetrain(however this really only applies to the Intake valve which with the Exh pushrod put in the intake place... well it bends them instantly)

I bought a set of SI valves for my 3400 heads from Jbody Performance. They carry them, they just aren't listed on the site.

            Valve Spring Question

That's not a bad price. Can anyone tell me if I can use the stock retainers when switching to a stiffer 105lb. valve spring from Comp Cams?? I asked around but noone seems to answer.

I am looking to get the valve springs from zzperformance. They are LT1 replacements rated for 105lbs.

Well depends. The comp springs are probabally straight. Stock ones are beehive. So NO you cannot use stock retainers.

So why not get the beehive SBC springs?

Good to hear you went with those 3400 heads - to use the rather sweet (IMO) 3400 needle bearing rocker arms on 3100 heads it takes a lot of time on a milling machine and several four letter words to get things right.
450 HP from a Pushrod V6 on pump gas without nitrous? A few intake and exhaust mods, some forced induction, rewrite the laws of physics...
                  Hey, it could work....
