  • anyone know if a 3800 camshaft will work in a 3400

    Probably a stupid question.. But i want to know. Searching didnt help and i dont have much knowledge on the 3800. they both are roller cams and look the same? Thanks

    no way.


    that's a 3800 firing order/cylinder identification diagram.



    and that is the 60V6 diagram.

    note that even with the cylinder numbering accounted for, things happen in a different direction on a 60V6 vs a 3800. 60V6 fires from left to right, 3800 fires from right to left(with the exception of starting with cylinder 1).

      Even if it did fit and lined up with the lifter bores then you would have nothing to drive the oil pump in the 60degreeV6 so the engine would not live long. But hey if your going through the trouble of putting in a 3800 cam when aftermarket cams are readily available four our engines why not just go dry sump oiling right?
