I am building a 3.4l with 3500 top end and was curious if it is possible to use a hydraulic roller cam in place of the flat tappet?

I believe so if you purchase lifters that have anti rotation setup's on them, or adapt the 3x00 lifter guides to bolt to the 3.4 Block. But I'd wait to hear a few other's chime in.

As far as I know only solid rollers have been used in a GenI block. In theory if someone was to provide you with a tie bar roller lifter with the right spacing then it could be done. All GM lifters are the same diameter (aside from some Oldsmobile 0.921" lifters) but the oil passage relief can vary in height and location. Also GenI blocks lack the cam retainer plate so you will need to address cam walk by using a button style limiter on the front of the cam.1993 EXT. CAB, 3.4L V6 TBI, 5spd manual. Sonoma
