  • LZ9 - Cam Sensor is Where?

    Just checking to see if anyone knows for sure where the cam sensor 'SENDERS' are located; ie the blanks, or 'windows' that the sensor picks up. They would have to be on the cam gear or machined in as part of the cam (what I am hoping they are NOT). Hoping to avoid stripping the front off the engine.

    Engine is an 06 LZ9; completely stock at the moment.

    I want to go to a more radical cam but don't want to lose the cam position sensing feature. I would lock the cam in a fixed position (how I would pick that yet I don't know) but eventually this will end up being a turbo'd engine, somewhat like Mars, but with a newer PCM (likely the 411, possibly the E67).

    Anyone know for sure? Thanks in advance;

    OK I found a poor pic (not sure how to post it here) of a multi-part cam gear that sure looks like it has a front 'plate' with 3 notches in it, for the cam position sensor I am guessing. That is great; now can this gear bolt to (ie) the 60V6 street/strip cam or similar? That is the root of my question.
    Will try image:

      The cam sensor is located in almost the same position as the previous engines. It would have to be located somewhere on the cam itself

      '86 Fiero, 3500, 4-speed

        IIRC, the Cam Position sensor is in the same place as it was on the other 60V6's.

        I'll go ahead and tell you the 0411 is a no-go right now, but FWIW, I think I might have figured out how to run a 2 bar map on a 60V6, along with dual knock sensors, using a stock PCM, I don't want to say too much more until I've tried running the engine on it to see if it works.
