  • ECOTEC 2.2 for my beretta Z26

Hey everybody, had a thought, I've got a wrecked 03 cavalier with the 2.2 ECOTEC motor in it theres nothing wrong with the motor just the body is totaled out. Would the ECOTEC motor fit into my 94 beretta Z26mines got the 3100v6 in it and was wondering if theres more aftermarket support for the ECOTEC. Just an idea that popped into my mind, sumbody let me know if this is a doable swap.
    Thanx.

I'm sure it could be done. With that said an Eco is only worth a crap if it has boost. Using a good chunk of money to stick it in a Z26 would be a move backward. That money is better spent on a 3400.

By the way I do own a NA Ecotec(auto). Even in a Cavy that has a weight of 2600lbs it's a dog. With an SC it would be something. A turbo just gives you more power where you already have it.

better off slapping a grandparent and then putting a carb'd equipped small journal 2.8L in the Beretta.

The ecotec platform HAS been pushed WAY farther than the 3x00 has, but you're looking at spending a lot of money to make that kind of power.

Bang for buck you'll probably get more out of the 3x00 per $ spent.

IIRC the worlds fastest drag racing 4-cylinder is a 2.1L ecotec and runs a mid-6. The 2nd fastest is also an ecotec (2L I think) and even uses a manual transmission.

So theres really no use in putting the ECOTEC motor in the Z when I could drop in a 3400 and make more power as a N/A motor with maybe forged internals???

How much power are you looking to make? Best bet is to start with a 3500. When you swap the engine install a cam first, it's a pain to do in the driveway after! Lol

              Pretty this.

Also, hole saws weren't intended for unibody drilling...
