all 1984 fiero's were 2.5l iron dukes. either your's has been swapped, or isn't an 84.
there aren't many carb options out there, edlebrock used to make a carb manifold, not sure if they still do..."I am not what you so glibly call to be a civilized man. There is no way a Fiero with a properly tuned carburetted 3.4L wouldn't get more than 15MPG... unless your pedal is stuck to the floor.
Still available brand new, 2.8L stuff at the top will work on the 3.4L as well...sigpic

I don't think it would be easier but it sure would be cheaper. Any S-10 before 86 had a carb so you can grab one from a junkyard. If a FWD car intake layout works better then you can grab on from a car of the same vintage.1993 EXT. CAB, 3.4L V6 TBI, 5spd manual. Sonoma

Assuming both carbs are rated for 390 cfm, the 4-barrel will be easier to manage in traffic than the 2-barrel. But the 2-barrel will probably be better for racing.
Also, keep in mind the Edelbrock intake will flow better (i.e. better performance) than a stock carb intake.
